Teams on Claude Team often hit the question when they outgrow it. Anthropic's Team page says the plan supports up to 150 seats and points larger organizations to Enterprise. Enterprise adds audit logs, SCIM, custom data retention, a Compliance API, an Analytics API, customer managed encryption keys and a HIPAA ready setup. The bigger change is billing: on Enterprise the seat covers access only and all usage is billed at API rates, with no usage allowance included with each seat. Self serve Enterprise starts at 20 seats and is paid with credits bought upfront. Sales assisted contracts start at 50 seats and are invoiced monthly in arrears. In a public thread, people asked why anyone would leave Team, and the answers were governance needs: the Compliance API, SCIM and a BAA rather than more usage.
Anthropic's migration guide recommends upgrading the existing Team organization instead of creating a new one, so chats, projects, members and roles carry over. The self serve upgrade cannot be reversed. If you had a spend limit on Team, raise it before go live, because once the organization limit is hit everyone loses access until it is raised or the month resets. Some features on by default in Team may be off by default in Enterprise, so the guide suggests reviewing capabilities afterward. A sales assisted move brings a short outage while the organization is provisioned, and users should sign out and back in.
Still open: how teams forecast monthly usage before the switch, since Team gave each seat a fixed allowance and Enterprise bills every token, and which spend limits stop surprises without locking people out.
